Two years ago, Rev’d Canon Paul Morris, Vicar of St Peter’s in the City and Founder of Derby City Centre Chaplaincy was appointed Principal Chaplain by Workplace Chaplaincy Derbyshire (www.workplacechaplaincyderbyshire.org.uk). The appointment was confirmed by Churches Together in Derbyshire and the partner churches within the Local Ecumenical Partnership. “This provides an exciting new opportunity for chaplains working in retail, agriculture and industry throughout Derbyshire to connect with and support one another in their ministries”, says Paul. “In the current challenging economic climate chaplaincy is more vital than ever, and consequently the demands placed upon chaplaincy are growing too – I hope that the Principal Chaplain role will enable me to offer chaplains ongoing training and to share good practice and stories of encouragement from the wealth of experience out there.” Two joint training events have already been held, the last exploring issues of working in a multi-faith, multi-cultural context with Revd Ray Gaston from the Queens Foundation in Birmingham. We look forward to many more!
